German Filled Hoernchen Recipe

1. All purpose flour (2 1/4c)
2. lemon zest (2tsp)
3. rum (1tbsp)
4. white wine (1tbsp)
5. beaten egg (1)
6. butter (2/3c)
7. ground almonds (1/3c)
8. superfine sugar (1/3c)
9. salt (1 pinch)
10. beaten egg yolk (1)
11. fruit preserves any flavor (1/2c)
12. butter, melted (3tbsp)
13. confectioner sugar (for dusting)
Method of preparation:-
1. Take a bowl of medium size, mix flour, sugar, salt and almonds in it. Mix in the 2/3 cup of butter until the mixture becomes crumbly. Then add lemon zest, rum, wine and egg in it until the mixture gets well blended to form sift dough.
2. Knead the dough on lightly floured surface and make ball of dough, wrap the dough and keep it to chill for at least 1 hour until it gets firm. Heat the oven to 350 degrees F.
3. Roll the dough on the floured surface to 1/4 –inch in thickness. Then brush it with melted butter and cut it into triangles.
4. Place a dab of jam on one side of each triangle and then roll it from the jam end to the point. Now place it on ungreased cookie sheet and brush it with beaten egg yolk.
5. Place the sheet in oven and bake it for about 20 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees F. Bake it until it becomes crispy and changes to golden color and then dust it with confectioner sugar.
