Fada Ni Khichdi Recipe

1. Split yellow gram or yellow moong dal (1c)
2. green peas (1c)
3. diced onions (1c)
4. broken wheat or gehun ka fada or dalia (3/4c)
5. cauliflower florets (1c)
6. diced potatoes (1c)
7. whole peppercorns (1/2tsp)
8. green chilli-ginger paste (1tbsp)
9. turmeric powder (1/2tsp)
10. salt (to taste)
11. water (4c)
11. chili powder (1tsp)
For Tempering:-
1. Ghee (3tbsp)
2. asafoetida (1/2tsp)
3. cumin seeds (1tsp)
4. cloves (3)
5. cinnamon (1stick)
Method of preparation:-
1. Take moong dal in a bowl, wash it properly and then soak it along with the dalia for about 15 minutes.
2. Take a pan; put 4 cups of water in it. Boil it and keep it aside. Now take a pressure cooker and put it on flame and put ghee in it. Add cumin seeds, cinnamon, cloves, asafoetida, and stir it. Now just add all the ingredients in the cooker along with the dalia and dal and cook it for about 5 minutes with a constant stirring.
3. In pressure cooker add hot water and let it cook till it whistles 3-4 times. Open the pressure cooker after the steam is escaped and stirs the khichdi thoroughly. If it is needed then put some hot water so as to mix the dalia and dal well and is served hot.
