Category: Indian RecipesIngredients
Basmati rice (1 1/2c), ghee (1 1/2tbsp), cumin seeds or jeera (2tsp), cinnamon (2 two inch stick), bay leaf (1), black cardamom (1) and salt (to taste).
Method of preparation:-
Take rice, wash them thoroughly and then soak them in water for half an hour and then drain the rice. Take a pan, heat ghee in it. Add the cumin seeds, cinnamon, cardamom and bay leaf in the pan. When the cumin seeds start crackle then add the drained rice. Add the salt according to taste. Stir the rice in the ghee until the ghee coats every grain of rice and it looks glossy. Add 3 cups of water in the rice. Keep it to boil and stir it once. Now reduce the heat to low, cover the pan with a lid by leaving a gap. When the holes appear on the surface and the water has been completely absorbed then the rice will be cooked. Take out the cooked rice onto a serving dish. Serve the jeera rice with any curry.
