6. sugar, divided (2c)
7. salt (1/2tsp)
8. baking powder (1tbsp)
9. orange juice (1/4c)
10. ground anise seeds (1tsp)

Method of preparation:-
1. First heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Take cookie sheets, line them with thin paper. Take a large bowl, add sugar of 1 cup, anise seeds and vegetable shortening in it. Beat these on medium speed with an electric mixture until the mixture gets creamy.

2. Add eggs in the creamy mixture one by one and beat it after the addition of each egg. Then add the orange juice and beat it until the mixture gets fluffy.

3. Take another bowl, mix flour, salt, baking powder and the cream of tartar. Now add this mixture into the mixture of shortening. Beat it to make dough. Then knead the dough on the floured surface. Make the balls of dough and wrap in the plastic wrapper and then keep in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.

4. Take a small bowl, mix sugar of 1 cup and cinnamon in it and then keep the bowl aside. Take out the dough from the refrigerator and roll it on the floured surface about ΒΌ inches thick. Now give the shape to the rolled dough with cutter and then place on the cookie sheets and press them gently.

5. Now bake the cookies in the oven for about 8 to 10 minutes or until the cookies turn brown. Take out them from the oven and keep them for sometime and then dip them in sugar and cinnamon mixture.
